It's a Conservative win in the Stockport Council by-election for the Bramhall South & Woodford ward.

The election was held on Thursday 31 October.

Cllr Peter Crossen was elected with 1909 votes, 47.9 percent of the ward's vote share.

Cllr Crossen is now the only Conservative councillor in the borough.

The by-election was held after Ian Powney, former Lib Dem councillor, stepped down on health grounds.

The full vote results were as follows:

  • Peter Crossen (Conservative) - 1909
  • Sandeep Kashyap (Lib Dem) - 1733
  • John Kelly (Reform) - 133
  • Jake Thomas (Labour) - 115
  • Andrew Dearden (Green) - 95

It means that the current party makeup of Stockport Council is now as follows:

  • Lib Dem (29)
  • Labour (23)
  • Edgeley Community Association (3)
  • Green (3)
  • Independent Ratepayers (3)
  • Conservative (1)
  • Independent (1)

So while the Lib Dems remain the largest party, their seat share has decreased by one following this by-election.
