On Saturday 18 November, a Christmas lights switch-on will take place in Stockport Underbanks.

This historic quarter of Stockport will host a special event to mark the occasion. The event starts at 5.30pm, with lights due to switch on at 6pm.

There will also be a silver brass band, late-night shopping, mince pies, mulled wine, and dancing. Everybody is welcome!

Nor will this be the only example of festivities this weekend: Sunday will see the appropriately-named 'Spectacular Sunday' take place across the town centre.

This special Christmas event features more than 60 shows and 220 artists taking to the town centre, spreading festive cheer from Market Place to the Merseyway.

Victoria Nichol, Merseyway manager, described this event as 'unmissable'. "The sheer number and calibre of performers are on a scale not seen before in the town", she said.

Visitors can expect marching bands, street theatre, live music, a host of costumed actors, comedy, carnivals, and more.
