A Cheadle man couldn't believe his eyes when he discovered a brand new £37,000 car was waiting for him outside his house courtesy of online competition firm BOTB.

Believing it was a delivery from his postman, Anthony Smith was ambushed at his home by BOTB presenter Christian Williams who surprised him with the news he had won a Ford Focus ST.

"It feels incredible to have won," the Dream Car Competition winner said. "I was waiting for a delivery so I thought it was the postman, but I recognised Christian straight away when I opened the door and started looking for the new car.

"I have been playing for about 10 years and it was my Friday treat to enter. I never expected to win, I was just playing out of habit."

The 72-year-old, who produced dozens of adverts in his career for brands such as Next and Vision Express, added: "A friend of mine had one a while ago and said it was one of the best cars he ever had.

"It is easy to drive, lots of fun and is just a lovely looking thing."

Christian said: "A huge congratulations to Anthony on winning this stunning prize. I loved the fact he thought I was the postman!"
