Change in store for much-loved jewellers' in Stockport Underbanks

There's a change in store for an independent jewellery business in Stockport Underbanks.
SJS Smith Jewellery, at 20 Little Underbank, is changing its focus and renaming to the Stockport Jewellery School.
Owner Sam Smith said the change better represents the 'core mission' of the business - that is, teaching the art of jewellery making.
Although visitors and passers-by will know the shop for its handcrafted silver, you might not have known that a fully-equipped jewellery school sits just below.

Sam described the change as an 'exciting new chapter'.
It means that students of all levels will be better able to learn traditional silversmithing techniques in a welcoming and inspiring environment.
Explaining the motivation behind the rebrand, Sam herself said: "Teaching has always been at the heart of what I do.
"The business has evolved, and it's time the name reflected that. Stockport Jewellery School isn't just a shop—it's a space where creativity thrives, skills are shared, and people discover the joy of making their own jewellery."
