Brinnington man jailed for drugs and firearms offences
A Brinnington man has been jailed for four and a half years after pleading guilty to eight drugs and firearms charges.
34-year-old Rhys Jones, of Lapwing Lane, was charged with being involved in the supply of heroin and cocaine, possession of cannabis, possession of criminal property, and owning two firearms.
Jones was stopped and searched in Brinnington in 2023 - Police found a bag of crack and heroin worth £3,590, as well as £2,624 in cash, a Rolex worth £34,000, and a gold chain worth £3,750.
Jones was released on bail, during which time police received more intelligence about his involvement in drug supply.
Police also executed a search warrant at Jones' address and found two firearms, pepper spray, £1,000 in cash, 42 wraps of crack and heroin, money counting machines, and a Breitling watch worth £1,500.
Jones tried to drive away from his home when he saw police coming, but he was caught and detained.
He was sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday 18 December.
Police Constable Weeks said: "Jones is clearly a dangerous offender, with his expensive jewellery and cash all gained from the profits of his drug dealing enterprise.
"They are proceeds of crime and were rightfully seized from him.
"His criminal activity led to luxurious holidays to Dubai, to be paid for solely through illegitimate means.
"Drug dealers of this nature often exploit vulnerable members of the community and need to be brought to justice."
