Brinnington and Reddish South revealed as least-used stations in the borough as rail usage figures released

The Office of Rail and Road has published its annual statistics on passenger entries and exits from March 2022-23.
Almost seven million journeys were made across all stations in the borough in this period, with Reddish South the lowest at just 100 entries and exits (owing to its restricted operation).
Of all the other regularly-used stations, Brinnington was the lowest at around 82,000. Stockport was predictably the highest at 3.14 million, with Cheadle Hulme bringing up second at 564,000.
The list of total entries and exits, from highest to lowest, is as follows:
- Stockport - 3,142,678
- Cheadle Hulme - 563,656
- Heaton Chapel - 480,388
- Hazel Grove - 405,002
- Heald Green - 318,820
- Marple - 306,304
- Gatley - 287,138
- Romiley - 244,806
- Davenport - 232,674
- Woodsmoor - 194,714
- Bredbury - 156,446
- Bramhall - 149,308
- Reddish North - 146,232
- Rose Hill - 99,900
- Brinnington - 82,072
- Reddish South - 100
TOTAL: 6,810,238
By comparison, Manchester Piccadilly - by far the most common terminus and origin point for the aforementioned stations - had 23.6 million.
The most used station in Britain was London Liverpool Street, with 80.4 million entries and exits.
Stockport outstripped other local authorities in Greater Manchester by a large margin - Rochdale had 1.34 million entries and exits and Salford had 1.6 million (between Salford Crescent and Salford Central).
