Cheadle businesswoman Penny Dee possesses the winning combination of a myriad of interests, and the energy and dedication to go about realising them all.

Penny is a businesswoman, skin specialist, author, and podcaster, perhaps most well-known locally for her role at DPC Clinic in Cheadle. Here, alongside her husband Phil, Penny offers skin, aesthetic and permanent makeup services.

DPC was in fact founded by Phil, an artist who later developed an interest in permanent makeup. Penny quit her job not long after, retrained as a skin specialist, and joined him at DPC. She spoke about finding a niche for the new clinic.

"I saw things in businesses that were really old fashioned", she said. "You sometimes couldn't book online, no card payments, not open on certain days… It just wasn't geared up to modern women.

"I decided to set up a business that I, as a professional woman, would want to go to."

Penny and Phil quickly began renovating the site, at 82 Stockport Road.

"I wanted a presence in the village that I loved. I took on the building in lockdown and renovated, after realising it had real potential."

This business, then, is relatively young and was set up on the back of quite an abrupt and risky career change. And yet, within just a few years, it has acquired a wide and dedicated customer-base, with visitors coming from as far afield as Australia.

What, then, makes DPC special? "We are all experts in our own fields", says Penny. "We don't multi-task. I only do skin, Phil only does permanent makeup, we have an aesthetics woman who only does aesthetics, and so on.

"There is a little bit of crossover, but essentially we are all specialised people focussing on our unique specialisms."

This expertise is paramount; Penny, for one, is a fully registered level four non-surgical skin practicioner, whilst Phil is Nouveau Contour-trained and platinum masters level-accredited.

The pair have since taken to training others, in a conscious attempt to improve service standards in the area. As Penny said: "I passionately believe you should help people up, because if you raise standards, that benefits everybody."

In a similar vein, Penny has since started Skingoal, a skincare products business, to further bolster her presence in the beauty industry.

Currently stocked in a number of venues in London, Skingoal represents a separate endeavour from DPC, albeit one which features a good deal of crossover.

Many Skingoal users are also DPC Clinic customers, although as the reach of the Skingoal products increases, so too does the client base.

Further still, Penny has taken to writing and podcasting, again from her base in Cheadle. Her book 'Kweens: Happiness Decoded", reached number one in the women's books category on Amazon.

Shaped by countless frank conversations with her female customers, the book offers consolation, guidance, and advice for modern women.

Speaking of the problems women face - particularly when 'at a certain age' - Penny said: "You can get anxiety out of nowhere, your mood will change - it can be really confusing, and knocks your confidence badly.

"[The book] is about happiness; I wondered why I had all these amazing women in front of me, and saw the same things coming up: work pressures, their doctor doesn't listen, blatant misogyny, love, social media… sometimes they would do things like dim themselves down to attract men.

"I thought all this work was done, but started realising that something had changed that needed to be addressed."

The book celebrates spirit, resilience and strength, and aims to imbue women with the knowledge to make sure they are as spirited, resilient and strong as possible. You can find Kweens on Amazon HERE.

Penny is responsible for a prolific output, then - between two new skincare businesses, a book, and a successful podcasting career - and there is much more to come!
