Local drone photographer captures remarkable pictures of the new interchange and more
Meet the local drone photographer capturing incredible bird's eye images of local landmarks.
Dave Williams, an emergency medical technician from Stockport, has shot some remarkable images of the new travel interchange, as well as other locations both locally and across the UK.
Dave first began taking pictures with a drone around one year ago, after being inspired by a friend who was doing the same.
"Really it began as a way to relax after working at the ambulance service", he says. "It keeps me busy."
Since then, he has quickly become adept at photographing the world from above. Recently, he has been following developments at the new travel interchange in the town centre.
The shots he has captured perfectly showcase the fusion of the modern and the industrial which characterises much of Stockport's more contemporary architecture.
This has been a controversial subject, with some claiming the interchange would detract from nearby industrial heavyweights, such as the viaduct and the Hat Museum.
Dave argues, however, that the interchange would revitalise the town.
"It is what we need", he says. "Hopefully it will bring more things in, new shops and visitors".
One of Dave's pictures also recently featured in our recent Lancaster Bomber article. He points out that "the more you do with a drone, the more you understand photography generally".
Beyond Stockport, Dave now takes trips with his drone across the country; for one, he mentions a recent trip to Wales, capturing rugged islands and coasts, medieval castles, soaring bridges, and more.
