With Stockport's burgeoning artistic and cultural scene, it's handy to have a place nearby which can capture the latest auditory output from the borough and beyond.

Loop Studios at Vernon Mill is a great place to do just that.

The studio opened in December 2023, and offers recording facilities for bands, solo projects, podcasters, voice-over artists, and more.

Built over four years by seasoned sound engineers Dan and Martin, the studio spans four main rooms - the 'control' room, a vocal booth, a 'live' room, and a drum room.

Still, the names are not necessarily prescriptive for what can or can't be recorded there - they just have different qualities which makes them suited to different recording needs.

In addition, there is also a relaxation space, for the time out you might need for the drummer to finally nail their take.

The studio as a whole is replete with quality equipment, from the state-of-the-art desk through to the movable acoustic panels throughout the rooms. The recording spaces themselves are also 'floating', meaning the floorboards are not directly attached to the sub-floor - this is much better for sound-proofing.

All of it means that the space can be incredibly versatile. String quartets, solo guitarists, boomy drums, podcasters, and everything in between - whatever it may be, there's a good chance you can do it here at Loop.

Rates are competitive, and are also negotiable on a case by case basis. For more information, check the Loop website.

If all of this has piqued your interest, you can visit Loop yourself on one of the open days which the studio is hosting in the coming weeks.

These will take place on Wednesday 1 May, and Saturday 4 May, and will run on a drop-in, drop-out basis. Once again, consult the website or get in touch with Dan and Martin for details.

In any case, it seems fair to say that we can look forward to some top quality production coming out of Loop in the future.
