Local care home group, Borough Care, has launched an initiative to deliver essential toiletry items to patients who are admitted to hospital unexpectedly or for those experiencing hardship.

Residents from Borough Care's Leek care home, Hen Cloud House, have packed essential toiletry items which will be delivered to local hospitals.

The packs, made as part of the 'Comfort to Share' campaign, are designed to support patients who are admitted to hospital with no essential items, due to emergency admission or poverty.

Sharon Parkes, Customer Relationship Manager at Borough Care, said: "This is incredibly common and the nurses fed back to me that, very often, they will pay for items out of their own pockets to support patients.

"Therefore this is a huge help to both patients and ward staff."

Sharon visited Macclesfield Hospital on Tuesday (2 February) alongside Hannah (Marketing Manager) Gemma (Senior Care colleague), Amy (ALF -Activities and Lifestyle Facilitator) and resident Margaret.

Sharon added: "Margaret was a theatre nurse in her formative years so it was lovely to feel that she was giving something back to a sector which is so important to her."

Borough Care is now appealing to the local community to support the campaign by donating new and unused toiletry items to Hen Cloud House, Leek, and Shoemaker Place, Stone.
