It was a busy time for Poynton last Saturday (6 April) as hundreds flocked to Poynton Leisure Centre to enjoy a free gym day.

Everybody Leisure, the owners of Poynton Leisure Centre, hosted the day to allow residents to try out activities they might not otherwise have considered.

Events ranged from free taster swim sessions, group fitness classes and a range of exercise drills in the newly-refurbished gym. 

Speaking of the event, Geoff Flavell, Duty Manager at the centre said: "Our Poynton open day was a huge success. It was lovely to see so many exercise enthusiasts coming down to benefit from the free event. 

"A lot of hard work went into the day and it was wonderful to see the community of all ages come together and work out as one."

Everybody Leisure aims to offer a high-standard of training whilst remaining accessible to people of all ages and abilities. 

Matt Shannon, an Everybody spokesperson, said: "It's suitable for everybody in the community; it's not a daunting gym, more of an inclusive space.

"People who are nervous about joining the gym can think of Poynton's gym as a 'first step' into their fitness journey - it is more of a chilled space, a good place to start."
