An exciting opportunity has arisen within Stockport s Youth Justice & Complex Safeguarding Service for an experienced and dedicated Youth Justice Social Worker. This is a dynamic, multi-agency service focused on preventing offending and reoffending among children and young people, with a strong commitment to a child-first approach.

The Role As a Youth Justice Social Worker, you will manage a diverse caseload while taking specialist responsibility for children who are remanded in custody and subject to Looked After Children procedures. The role includes:

  • Undertaking assessments and managing complex cases

  • Planning and delivering targeted interventions to reduce offending

  • Preparing high-quality reports and sentencing proposals for Court

  • Representing the service in Court as required

  • Working closely with victims, families, and carers to provide holistic support

  • Collaborating within a multi-agency setting, including police, probation, and health colleagues

Your work will contribute directly to the safety of victims and communities, promoting desistance through strength-based and evidence-informed practice.

About You You will be a qualified Social Worker with:

  • Experience working within youth justice or a similar statutory setting

  • Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed practice, and systemic approaches

  • Ability to form constructive relationships with children, families, and professionals

  • Confidence in navigating complex legal and safeguarding frameworks

  • Commitment to promoting inclusion, reducing stigma, and addressing disproportionality within the justice system
