The Hawk is Dead - An Evening with Peter James

Peter James' Roy Grace is Queen Camilla's favourite fictional detective and now she plays a leading role in his latest thriller The Hawk is Dead! Combining Peter's classic fast-paced action with extensive behind-the-scenes research at Buckingham Palace, The Hawk is Dead is the not-to-be-missed publishing event of the autumn and the perfect entry point into the world of Roy Grace for anyone yet to meet him.

Following a fantastic event with Peter back in September 2024, we're delighted to be welcoming him back to Stockport on Sunday 12th October, this time at the beautiful St. Mary's Church on Churchgate. He'll be talking to Bookshop co-owner Chris about how Queen Camilla and King Charles came to feature in the book, plus his fascinating research learning about the inner workings of the Royal Household and Buckingham Palace.

Tickets are £5 each or £22 including a hardback copy of The Hawk is Dead (a week ahead of its official publication). The event will be held in the beautiful St. Mary's Church, Churchgate, Stockport SK1 1YG.

Event starts at 6:00pm (doors at 5.30pm)

About the book:

Roy Grace never dreamed a murder investigation would take him deep into Buckingham Palace...

Her Majesty, Queen Camilla, is aboard the Royal Train heading to a charity event in Sussex when disaster strikes – the train is derailed.

A tragic accident or a planned attack?

When, minutes later, a trusted aide is shot dead by a sniper, the police have their answer.

Despite all the evidence, Roy Grace is not convinced The Queen was the intended target. But he finds himself alone in his suspicions.

Fighting against the scepticism of his colleagues and the Palace itself, Grace pursues his own investigation. But when there is a second murder, the stakes rise even higher, and Grace is at risk of being embroiled in a very public catastrophe – and in mortal danger.

Failure at this level is not an option. But time is running out before a killer in the Palace will strike again...
