Reddish will celebrate a Christmas lights switch-on in Houldsworth Square on Thursday 30 November, from 4-6.30pm.
The event will feature a school choir, live music, and more - former County player James Jennings will even make a special appearance for the switch-on itself.
This will be Reddish's first switch-on in some time, and it has taken a great deal of organisation; local businesses and groups alike have all contributed in some way. The local Morrison's branch has even donated some mince pies and snacks for children at the event.
The itinerary for the event is as follows:
- 4pm: Reddish Vale School choir
- 4.30pm: Darren Poyzer and band
- 5.30pm: Countdown and switch-on with James Jennings
- 5.50pm: Stealth Cheer
At an area committee meeting yesterday, Reddish North councillor Holly McCormack said: "It's really well-organised, and we're really excited to have one for the first time in a while."
"It's so great that we've got so many groups involved, local talent… We're hoping it will be a really nice evening.
"It just shows, once we put our heads together, how much we can do as a community. Reddish is becoming a really good place to be, a good place to grow up and a good place to live."
Reddish South councillor Gary Lawson added: "The focus has very much been on festivals and events, and also local businesses. I think that is being proved right, because people appreciate things that bring the community together.
"I'm sure it will be a success, whatever the weather."
