Helping customers navigate Motability's new short-term lease extension rules
With changes on the horizon for Motability Scheme customers, Swansway Motor Group is reassuring drivers that support, and guidance will always be on hand.
From Tuesday 16 December, Motability customers will no longer be able to request a two-year lease extension. Instead, only short-term lease extensions, usually lasting around six months, will be available.
For many customers, this update might feel like a big change, particularly for those who prefer to keep hold of their current car for longer. But Swansway is reassuring customers that short-term extensions will still be available to cover circumstances such as waiting for a new car to arrive, or where adaptations have been fitted that make everyday life easier.

Peter Smyth, Director at Swansway Motor Group, said: "We know how much independence and peace of mind the right car can bring, so we want to reassure our Motability customers that we're here to support every step of the way.
"While longer extensions are being phased out, there are still options available, and our teams will always be on hand to guide customers through what this means for them personally."
These changes have come as vehicle supply across the industry continues to improve, reducing the need for longer lease extensions that were previously in place during periods of low availability.
Peter Smyth continued: "We're more than just a dealership, we're here to listen, understand and find solutions that work for our customers. If you're unsure how this change might affect you, visit your local Swansway dealership, or give us a call."
Swansway, a family owned and run motor group, has always pride itself on approachable, friendly customer service. The teams are encouraging anyone with questions about the Motability lease update to reach out for advice.
