Our client, a leading engineering services provider, is seeking a proactive Supply Chain Manager to transform how parts, stock, and suppliers are managed across their operations. This is an opportunity for a commercially minded problem-solver to take ownership of procurement, stock control, and supplier relationships, ensuring engineers have exactly what they need, when they need it, to achieve first-time fixes and deliver excellent customer outcomes.

In this hands-on role, you will oversee everything from van stock strategies and inventory planning to supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives. Initially managing one team member (with the potential to grow), you will play a pivotal part in improving service delivery, reducing waste, and driving operational improvements. Longer-term, you ll help shape group-wide supply chain strategies, implement KPIs, and reduce supplier complexity, making a real impact on company performance.

Job Description:

  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure part availability, competitive pricing, and high service standards

  • Develop and deliver a procurement strategy aligned to business growth and cost reduction targets

  • Oversee van stock and central inventory management to optimise first-time fix rates

  • Coordinate logistics including deliveries, returns, and replenishment

  • Use data to forecast demand and align stock levels with operational needs

  • Drive process improvements to enhance speed, accuracy, and cost-efficiency

  • Standardise product ranges and reduce unnecessary variation

  • Track procurement budgets and report on savings and performance against KPIs

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in procurement, stock management, or logistics within engineering or technical services

  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills

  • Data-driven approach to forecasting and inventory control

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities

  • Effective problem-solver with a critical eye for continuous improvement

  • Confident communicator, able to work across teams and suppliers

  • Proficient with stock and procurement systems

Desirable:

  • Experience managing van stock or supporting mobile workforces

  • Background in fire & security, construction, or similar sectors

  • Track record of delivering cost savings or transformation projects

  • Familiarity with first-time fix strategies and field service models

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking business with clear ambitions for growth and improvement. Alongside a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000, you ll benefit from the chance to shape the future of supply chain operations and grow your own team as part of a wider group structure.
