Structural Engineer Bridge Engineering Salary: £60,000 £70,000 DOE Location: North West (Engineering Centre of Excellence)
A long-established engineering firm with a global reputation in the design and manufacture of modular bridging systems is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join its Engineering Centre of Excellence.
The Role: You'll take a lead role within the engineering team, applying structural engineering principles to the design and validation of modular bridge systems. You ll carry out detailed analysis, support junior engineers, liaise with customers, and oversee outsourced technical work.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure structural integrity of bridge designs to meet international codes and project requirements

Conduct structural analysis including linear and non-linear FEA

Develop specifications for testing and validation of structural components

Review internal and external design work, leading technical reviews

Work closely with customers and project stakeholders to define and deliver engineering solutions

Contribute to design optimisation, continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives
What We re Looking For:

Degree in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (with a structural bias)

Chartered or working towards chartership (IStructE, ICE or equivalent)

In-depth understanding of structural mechanics, load paths, and materials behaviour

Proficient in FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) and design to Eurocodes
-
Experience in structural steelwork, welded fabrications, or modular construction

Skilled in 3D CAD (e.g., Solid Edge, Spaceclaim)

Confident in preparing technical documentation, test specs and structural reports
