Senior Service Engineer
Location: Stockport, UK (with national and international travel) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
A specialist engineering company based in Stockport is seeking a Senior Service Engineer to join its growing team. The business focuses on the design and build of advanced inspection and simulation machines for industrial applications.
This is a key role, offering responsibility for technical support, system performance, and mentoring within a fast-paced and high-standards environment.
Responsibilities-
Technical Support and Troubleshooting Provide advanced technical support, diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues across mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

Project Leadership Lead service interventions, installations, and commissioning activities on-site, both in the UK and internationally.

Mentoring and Training Provide guidance and training to junior engineers on best practices, technical procedures, and fault-finding techniques.

System Monitoring Conduct regular performance audits and inspections to ensure system reliability and operational efficiency.

Documentation Maintain accurate service records, technical documentation, and system configuration details in line with company procedures.

Customer Engagement Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers. Communicate technical information clearly and professionally to a range of stakeholders.

Compliance and Safety Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company policies, safety regulations, and relevant industry legislation.

Internal Collaboration Work closely with design, development, and production teams to support system improvements and resolve recurring technical issues.
Education & Experience

Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline

Minimum of 5 years experience in a service engineering role, ideally involving complex systems or industrial machinery

Proven ability to fault-find and repair mechanical, electrical, and software-integrated systems

Experience working with Operational Technology (OT) or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is advantageous
Skills & Attributes

Strong technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems

Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical problems

Demonstrated ability to mentor or coach junior engineers

Flexible and willing to travel nationally and internationally, often at short notice

Full UK driving licence and valid passport with no travel restrictions
