JR262: Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)Location: StockportSalary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annumOverview:First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our client.Our client welcomes applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be considered.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform safe, efficient maintenance on various process equipment modern and legacy systems covering mechanical and electrical tasks.
  • Complete all scheduled PPM and reactive maintenance tasks on time and to a high standard, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Accurately log maintenance activities, manage inventory for spares and consumables, and coordinate reordering as necessary.
  • Follow strict risk assessments, Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and permits to ensure all activities are conducted safely.
  • Monitor and ensure the safe operation of equipment, promptly reporting failures and necessary repairs to the Engineering Manager.
  • Adjust work patterns in line with production needs to support the smooth operation of our manufacturing lines.
  • Assist in the management and upkeep of site facilities, supporting broader operational needs.
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations and contribute to maintaining a safe workplace.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Completed apprenticeship or equivalent with 4-6 years in production/manufacturing, ideally within FMCG.
  • Recognized qualifications in electrical and mechanical engineering (BTec, C&G, HNC, NVQ L3 or equivalent).
  • Ideally 60/40 or 70/30 mechanical/electrical bias, with experience in equipment including rotating systems, pumps, heaters, cooling systems, reactors, and high-speed filling/packaging lines.
  • Familiar with HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, and PSSR regulations.
  • Strong communicator who can work independently, drive continuous improvement, and support the team in achieving operational excellence.

What We re Looking For • LE1 grade or equivalent with DNO experience on 132kV/33kV transmission systems (erection & wiring) • City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Power Engineering • Authorisation to receive safety documents and apply additional/drain earths • Strong understanding of safety systems and risk assessments • Willingness to work outdoors in all weathers & antisocial hours • Team player, well-organised, and able to complete work documentation Desirable
