Design Manager - construction - Manchester We are working with a Main contractor who are looking for a Design Manager to work on Public sector new build and refurbishment projects out of their offices in Manchester, The company are a well established business with a strong portfolio of work and extensive pre planned works. Roles, Duties, Responsibilities: Take full responsibility for the design coordination of large projects. Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track the close out of these items in an Information Required Schedule format. Review design development regularly with the Financial Manager to ensure design and commercial aspects are aligned. Manage the production and approval of samples, mock ups and quality benchmarks. Produce and manage Open Items Schedules for each trade contractor package. Chair Design Team Meetings with the consultant designers and record and track information from DTMs. Coordinate the integration of the building services with the architectural and structural elements of the project. Identify potential quality issues and latent defects and to manage the design development of these with the design team to provide a suitable resolution. Be a point of contact between the design team and the trade contractors. Identify problems and offer solutions. Provide input into Contractors Proposals document for D&B projects. Background in Architectural design or Construction management Industry experience. Track record of successful projects either internally or externally In-depth knowledge of the design and construction process Understands the pre-construction process.
