A growing Installations and maintenance business based close to Stockport are keen to hire an experienced Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic and rapidly expanding team! You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of the companies projects, ensuring that their maintenance, repairs or installations are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

The company offer excellent training and enhanced holidays and are keen to hire people who are keen to work well from initiative and are customer service focused.What will you be doing as a Commercial Manager/Quantity Surveyor?

  • Prepare and analyse project costings for tenders, such as materials, quantities, labor, and time
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Monitor and control costs throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare and submit detailed progress reports and financial statements
  • Advise on procurement strategy and risk management
  • Collaborate with the team and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
  • Develop high level understanding of planning and programming to ensure accurate progress reporting
  • Utilise specific processes and procedures on projects to maximise returns in terms of profit and service level
  • Establish and maintain accurate and robust reporting structures and monitor resources and costs to ensure that projects meeting and or exceed targets
  • Identify, manage, reduce, and drive out unnecessary costs and inefficient activities
  • Maximise cash flow through timely preparation of valuations, submission of invoices and receipt of payment
  • Ensure payment processes for site based teams are in line with contractual agreements
  • Procure materials and off-site services in an efficient manner with organisations in accordance with the company procurement policy and procedures and ensure appropriate records are kept
  • Comprehensive understanding of the requirements of the quality policy and procedures and how these are applied to individuals own role

We would LOVE to hear from you if you have the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience working as a commercial manager / quantity surveyor
  • Ideally will have trained with a main contractor
  • The ideal person will have 2 to 3 years experience post-graduation
  • Graduates could be considered for this role, however you would need commercial experience gained on day release
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work well as part of a team and also independantly
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational and prioritising skills
  • Ability to work well from initiative and make decisions and consult as appropriate

  • Salary up to GBP45k, dependent upon experience
  • Hours of work are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, with a 3.30pm finish on a Friday
