We are looking for an ambitious and commercially minded ACA or ACCA-qualified Senior Client Manager to join our growing accountancy practice and play a key role in the continued development of our Stockport office.

You will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of corporate and owner-managed clients, lead an established team of accounting professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Client Portfolio, Accounts & Tax

• Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of corporate clients and owner-managed businesses, building long-term relationships and providing proactive commercial advice.

• Review and finalise statutory year-end and management accounts, alongside complex corporate tax computations and personal self-assessment returns.

• Identify and deliver tax planning opportunities, including remuneration planning, corporate restructuring and capital allowances.

• Ensure client work is delivered accurately, efficiently and within agreed budgets and deadlines.

Team Leadership & Workflow

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of approximately three junior and semi-senior accounting professionals, providing technical guidance and constructive feedback.

• Oversee day-to-day workflow, allocate work effectively and ensure Companies House and HMRC deadlines are consistently met.

• Help develop a positive, collaborative and high-performing office culture.

Commercial & Business Development

• Take ownership of portfolio profitability, including billing, fee negotiations, recovery rates, WIP and lock-up.

• Use CCH practice management tools to monitor work and ensure assignments are completed efficiently and profitably.

• Identify opportunities to cross-sell advisory services and support local business development initiatives to grow the Stockport office.

• Work with Partners/Directors on the continued development and commercial strategy of the office.

What We're Looking For

• ACA or ACCA qualified - essential.

• Recent and demonstrable experience within a UK accountancy practice.

• Strong experience managing a portfolio of clients, including corporate and owner-managed businesses.

• Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing accounting staff.

• Strong technical knowledge of UK statutory accounts, corporation tax and personal tax.

• Commercial awareness, including billing, WIP, recovery and portfolio profitability.

• Strong working knowledge of CCH, ideally including Central, Accounts Production, Corporation Tax, Personal Tax and Practice Management.

• Experience with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information into practical business advice.
