The Role

As Assistant Manager, you'll take ownership of a portfolio of property clients, overseeing the preparation and review of service charge accounts while supporting and developing junior team members. Working closely with senior management, you'll play an important role in maintaining excellent client relationships and ensuring work is delivered accurately, efficiently and to the highest professional standards.

This is a varied role offering a mix of technical accounting, client management and team leadership responsibilities, with genuine opportunities for progression as the department continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of property and service charge accounting clients.
• Review service charge accounts and financial statements prepared by the team.
• Ensure assignments are completed accurately and delivered within agreed deadlines.
• Build strong relationships with clients, providing excellent service and proactive advice.
• Identify opportunities to support clients with additional services where appropriate.
• Assist with planning workloads, resource allocation and meeting client deadlines.
• Review work in progress and support fee management.
• Support and mentor junior members of the team through coaching, training and performance reviews.
• Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
• Work closely with senior leadership on complex client matters and technical queries.
• Ensure compliance with current accounting standards and industry regulations.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys building client relationships, takes pride in delivering high-quality work and enjoys supporting others to develop.

You'll ideally have:

• ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification (or be Qualified by Experience).
• Previous experience within an accountancy practice, service charge accounting or property finance.
• Experience reviewing accounts and supporting junior staff.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
• Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
